Hit the streets of Vancouver to benefit the BC Cancer Foundation (Vancouver) [20 Nov 2008|04:21pm]
endcancer09
Do you get excited at the idea of getting decked out in wacky costumes and meeting new people, all while helping out a great cause? If so, then you better read on! We are looking for fun, enthusiastic Volunteers who are eager and ready to hit the streets of Vancouver as Outreach-ers to benefit the BC Cancer Foundation. Help us in our quest to raise millions of dollars for cancer treatment, prevention, education and outreach services.

As a member of one of our Street Teams you’ll be out on the town, dressed up in wacky attire, and taking part in some crazy outreach stunts. No two days will ever be the same... this environment is fun, fast-paced, and highly rewarding! If you are passionate about this cause, love talking to people, and are someone who knows everyone (or who wants to), this is the position for you!

We are looking for twenty creative, outgoing, and hip individuals to join our Street Teams. You must be willing to commit to approximately 10 hours a month from December 2008 (Starting in January is negotiable) to June 2009. If you are interested or want to learn more, please email mwhitney@endcancer.ca as soon as possible.

New to the city [13 Nov 2008|09:39am]

jonesa3
Hey!

Thought I would give this a shot.

My wife and I are new to the city, and, honestly, living with family has worn a little thin (especially in Coquitlam).  Is there anyone out there who wants to meet up for coffee?  I am a mid-twenties grad student and my wife is a recent graduate.  We're into current events, photography, writing, reading, and lots of other stuff.  I hope this post comes off in a non-creepy way, since we're honestly just a friendly couple of people who are looking for friends in a new city.

If you're at all interested, let us know!  We'd love to have coffee or lunch or something, if you think we might get along.

Cheers!

Andrew

EDIT - if you would like to MSN chat or something beforehand to figure things out/determine if we're interesting to you, I'm all for it.  Reply to this ad and I'll give you my MSN.

After much demand, we will be invading the new territory of Granville Island. This is going to be rad! We will be meeting on the wood bridge under the big bridge along Anderson Street before beginning the rampage through the island.

BASIC MANHUNT RULES:

Manhunt is a hide-and-seek variant. The game starts out with one person, known as the MANHUNTER, who is “it”. After the manhunter has been selected, the FUGITIVES have 120 seconds to hide.

If a FUGITIVE is tagged by a MANHUNTER, she or he is BRAINWASHED and forced to join the side of the MANHUNTERS. At the end of the designated time limit, all FUGITIVES who have not been arrested are declared the winners.

Play occurs within predetermined boundaries. If a FUGITIVE exits these boundaries for any reason, she/he joins the MANHUNTERS. Players are identified as being distinct from the general civilian population by means of a HIGHLY-VISIBLE ARMBAND.

Pirate vs. Ninja 7 Day Urban Gaming Clash June 4th-10th [02 Jun 2007|11:07am]

knigel
The war between Pirates and Ninjas has continued over countless generations. Will this be the final showdown between Pirates and Ninjas? The clash will continue each day, for seven days. Each will be able to show their merit as a true Pirate or Ninja through a series of challenges. These challenges will consist of Manhunt, Ringolevio, Water Gun Fights, Capture the Flag, Dodge Ball, Sardines, Bigger the Better, and more.

We also encourage everyone to wear your best attire to the events. Eye patches, peg legs, black garb, etc.

At this time, we are still hammering out the details so please keep up to date on any changes. We would also be very grateful for any feedback, suggestions, ideas, or hate-mail. This is an event for the community, so we would like as much participation as possible. Conclusive updates will be posted on the main website: http://manhunt-vancouver.com/

Suburbia Catastrophe [05 May 2007|10:05am]

knigel
The leaders of the pack are heading out to mark some new territory as our own. We need all those who are neither sick nor lame to prowl into Joyce Station with us and then defend the new soil. There are no other options, but to spread out in search of new prey; the Manhunter masses are growing exponentially -- our comfortable habitat will not be able to sustain all of us for much longer. Only the strongest, quickest, and craftiest will be able to survive this endeavour. Yet, if you stay behind, the pack will lose faith in you. Come cut your teeth on the new location; get to know the area before others get a chance. If you survive, you can wear your courage as a badge. Yes, many will become prey themselves, yet to live life – to really live life – one must take near unconquerable risks.

Velociraptor Manhunters Are Gonna Getchu! [28 Apr 2007|01:13pm]

knigel
It is May and time for the Manhunters and Manhuntresses to go on a rampage through the quiet city of Vancouver. This is it, the breeding grounds are well stocked and the prey fresh. The weather is ideal and oh so beautiful. We are spreading through this cement jungle like wildfire and this havoc is only starting to blossom. This is your chance to come out and feel the surge of exhilaration of the hunt. Step away from your TVs, un-stick yourself from your couch, get out of that dingy bar for a while, lay off the stale paperwork, lock your garlic-breathed boss in the supply cabinet, close your ears to the yapping teachers, shatter your dreams of being a hockey superstar, stop wearing pants...wait...keep those on, but stop trying to be ever so comfortable in your mundane life. Stop making excuses and cannonball into the deep-end. Take on the sharks, brawl with the tigers, fend against the hoards of bunnies – don’t give any rapscallion an inch. Do not be eaten by zombies, surprised by ninjas, or plank-walked by pirates – become a Manhunter today and learn to survive. If you do not come to us, one day we might come for you, will you be ready?

NEXT MANHUNT GAME! FEBRUARY 26th! STADIUM STATION @ 7:30 & 9:00pm [25 Feb 2007|11:51am]

knigel
So since the game went so well last time, we will continue with regular Manhunt games! We're starting a little bit early this season but I was worried that the ravaging mobs of Manhunt fanatics were going to begin hunting me, FOR REAL! So yes, for self preservation, the next game is going to be this Monday, February 26th. We will meet at Stadium Station near or on the stairs (If you have trouble finding us, look for the people wearing white armbands [If you can't find a mob of people...well...]). The first game is at 7:30pm and then the second one starts at 9:00pm. Manhunt WILL continue every week, RAIN OR SHINE! Seriously, this is Vancouver, who's scared of getting wet?

For more information, including play area, please say hi in the Forum Thread and check out our forums http://forum.manhunt-vancouver.com/ from our website http://manhunt-vancouver.com/

MANHUNT 2007 SEASON BEGINS!!!!!!!! [19 Feb 2007|06:16pm]

manhunt_vancity

It’s time to shake out hibernal slumber, cut your teeth, and toss the dew from your senses. Hunting season begins Monday, February 19 2007, and only the ready will last. It takes more than a choice to be the hunter or the prey. Dedication, experience, and solid iron-will separate the victorious, from the doomed. Those who come out and practice have a better chance than those who procrastinate. Therefore, come out to the hunting grounds and begin to sharpen your predatory skills.

We will meet @ street level of Burrard Station by the weird looking stone art on the grass. The first game starts at 7:30 pm and the next begins at 9:00 pm.

!!!SPONTANEOUS SNOWBALL FIGHT!!! - Nov 26 [25 Nov 2006|09:48pm]

knigel
The Abominable Snowman has dragged himself out of his lair, and has brought depths of snow with him. Now, the hunters have this opportunity to stalk prey in a foreign terrain, sharpen our instincts -- or collapse trying. This is an official howl out to the pack; if you are not a sheep in wolfs skin, then join us tomorrow for a flurry of snow flinging. To make this event happen, we need enough members, so if there is more than five confirmations, this operation is a go. Now it is up to each of you, it is your responsibility, to RSVP in this thread. Include your availability and ideas for location.
